President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Ibrahim Khalil Gaga as the Executive Director of Corporate Services at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM).
This was disclosed in a statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, the special adviser to the President on media & publicity.
Mr. Gaga, a seasoned lawyer with over 25 years of experience in both the banking sector and legal services, previously served as the Board Secretary and Legal Adviser of NEXIM Bank. His educational background includes an LLB Degree in Law from Bayero University, Kano, and a BL from the Nigerian Law School.
Additionally, he holds a Master of Law degree from Lagos State University and a postgraduate Diploma in Management from the National Open University.
Throughout his career, Mr. Gaga has accumulated diverse expertise in private legal practice and various banking institutions, such as Liberty Bank Plc, Pacific Bank Limited, and First Bank of Nigeria Plc, among others. His areas of specialization encompass litigation, recovery, security documentation, risk administration, and company secretarial practice.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in Mr. Gaga’s ability to invigorate NEXIM’s mandate of providing finance, risk mitigation services, trade information, and export advisory services in alignment with the economic development agenda of the current administration.
In response to the appointment, Tayo Omidiji, the head of strategy & communications at NEXIM, stated the positive impact Mr. Gaga’s appointment would have on strengthening corporate governance structures and facilitating the swift fulfillment of the bank’s mandate.
